Lord Shiva has been worshiped in the form of the Shivalingam throughout the ages.  The Shivalingam is the form that represents the infinite nature of Lord Shiva. The Shivalingam perfectly embodies the male and female energies of the universe-the powers of Shiva and Shakti.

Understanding the Rudrabhishek Yagya
The Rudrabhishek Yagya is the traditional yagya performed to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. The Shiva Lingam is given a ritual bath with Ganges water, milk, yogurt, honey, sandalwood paste and rose water. Then, vermilion paste and other precious herbs are applied on the lingam. The pundits decorate the lingam with flowers and garlands and offer incense sticks.

Waves of  peace, bliss and sanctity are generated through this ritual. The blissful energy of Shiva and Shakti (male and female energy) is enlivened and spreads out as waves of desire fulfilling potential to bless the yagya sponsors.
