Omkareshwar Jyotirling Temple is located on an

Om symbol. It is home to one of the 12 self generated lingas of
light, the divine form of Lord Shiva.
Our pundits will be making the 3
hour journey from the ashram to perform the auspicious Rudra Abhishek yagya on
the temple grounds. This is a rare opportunity to have your yagya performed in this holy location.
Lord Shiva is most renowned for his compassionate nature amongt the deities. When creation was being formed though the churning of the great ocean, a horrible poison was distilled as a by product. Lord Shiva drank this poison and neutralized it though his great power and compassion-thus saving the world.
Another famous story of Lord Shiva's merciful nature is as follows. Once a hunter was wandering in a dense forest. He heard the roar of a tiger and climbed up a tree to protect himself. The tiger was below the tree and would not leave. The hunter had to stay up the tree the whole night and to keep himself awake, he plucked leaves from the tree and cast them to the ground.
There happened to be a Shivalingam under the tree! The tree happened to be a Bilva tree that is sacred to Lord Shiva.Without any knowledge, the huntsman had delighted Lord Shiva by pouring Bilva leaves all night upon the Shivalingam. With the arrival of the sun, the hunter looked down and found the tiger gone. In its place, Lord Shiva was standing. The hunter bowed before the Lord. With Shiva's blessings, he attained salvation from the bondage of the material world.
